I spent the better part of the morning searching for support. Not just any support mind you, but support for the wife of an Army Reservist. I found so little that my frustration grew into this blog. I figure if nobody else is going to help me get the information, then I can find it on my own and maybe help other wives down the road, if I am able to stick to this. So here is my story.
The hubby and I have been married for almost 16 years. When we met he was in the USMC. For those of you that do not know what that stands for it is "U Suckers Missed Christmas" aka United States Marine Corp. When we got married shortly before his discharge it just did not make since for me to make the big move when we knew he was getting out in less than 2 months due to a medical discharge. (The USMC broke both of his femurs.) So the reason I go into this is to make you all understand that I did not know what it was like being a true USMC wife.
Now let's hit the fast forward button to that infamous day in 2001. My husband had always missed the Military, but that day in September set him on fire to do something. He wanted so badly to re-join and do what he could for his country. Long story short, the USMC did not want him back. At the time he just did not want to do the Army. Then as always life got in the way and the hunt had just fizzled.
Now fast forward again until 2008. We were trying to do better financially and my dear hubby thought that joining the Army Reserves was the best way to do that. This would allow for him to keep his good paying job and get a little extra money each month. Boy o' boy were we wrong!!!
